RSPB Bempton Cliffs, Bridlington
Bempton Cliffs is home to nearly half a million seabirds between March and October when they flock to this stretch of stunning heritage coast. Visit these towering chalk cliffs to spot adorable puffins, gannets, guillemots and many more magnificent birds as they pile onto precarious ledges to lay their eggs. The sights, sounds and smells of the UK’s largest mainland seabird colony makes for an unforgettable experience, one any bird lover cannot miss when staying nearby. The reserve holds its own ‘Seabird Centre’ where you can enjoy drinks and snacks whilst experiencing a birds-eye view of the action on live footage.
National Centre for Birds of Prey, Helmsley
This birds of prey centre is set in 10 acres of ancient woodland and rolling parkland, holding the largest collection of birds of prey in the north of England. Here you’ll find around 40 aviaries housing a huge variety of these amazing birds. Expect to see some of the most unusual and magnificent raptors in the world, and even get a chance to see the breeding program! Free flying demonstrations are available year-round - an excellent opportunity for photographers to snap the birds showing their natural ability.
Filey Bird Garden & Animal Park
Located on the north of Filey, this family-friendly farm attraction offers feeding for the animals and much more for a fun day out. Head to the beautiful bird garden to spot a huge range of colourful birds or just to relax. There’s bird feeding stations here too - offering you the chance to get up close to the exotic birds on show in the garden. The Animal Park offers tons of activities for kids too, including a play park, treasure hunts much more!
If you’re looking for something a little more natural, head to the beautiful North York Moors National Park for a chance to see some stunning countryside scenery and birds in their natural habitat.
