The Yorkshire country and coast is full of market towns and villages offering some of the best weekly markets in the country. From the popular Food Lovers Market in Malton to the smaller locally-ran market town villages, there's something for everyone.
Hovingham Village Market | 1st Saturday of each month
Hovingham Market is run by local village volunteers to provide the surrounding area with market-fresh produce every month. Held on the 1st Saturday of each month throughout the year, the market has both food stalls and non-food stalls offering a wide range of items including pottery, handmade accessories and gifts.
You can find the market at Hovingham Village Hall, which is just 5 minutes’ drive from Robin Hood Caravan Park.
Helmsley Market | Fridays
Held in the beautiful countryside village of Helmlsey, the Helmsley Market is a traditional weekly market held every Friday. This local market provides stalls offering a range of fresh food, flowers, clothes and gifts. You can also visit the town hall and explore the craft fair held there on Fridays.
Pickering Outdoor Market | Mondays
The weekly Pickering market is held on the town’s high street, home to its many independent shops and visitor attractions. The market is held weekly every Monday throughout the year and offers visitors a range of stalls selling local produce including fresh fruit and vegetables, bakery goods and much more.
Malton Food Market | 2nd Saturday of the month (March-November)
Malton is renowned as the Food Capital of Yorkshire and so offers one of the best food markets in the country. Held monthly in the town’s picturesque Market Square, the market is incredibly popular with both locals and visitors. Expect to find stalls offering a huge range of options including freshly made cakes, locally produced meat, jams and preservatives, pastries, wines and even cocktails.

Kirkbymoorside | Wednesdays
Held on the wonderful cobbled main street of the small town of Kirkbymoorside, this weekly market has plenty of stalls offering visitors an authentic taste of rural Yorkshire produce. Held every Wednesday, the market is a great way to explore and experience this historic countryside town.
Sheriff Hutton | 3rd Sunday of each month
Sheriff Hutton’s weekly market prides itself on being eco-friendly and hosting a large array of independent traders both inside and outside its Village Hall. You can find stalls selling everything from artisan drinks to locally-produced pet food. There is also a café ran by alternate local groups each month. Don’t forget to bring your reusable shopping bags!
Scarborough Market Hall | 7 days a week
Scarborough’s historical market hall, located in the Old Town, has recently undergone refurbishments that have added a handful of small independent shops to its list of local vendors. The market hall has a large provider of fresh fruit and veg, meat produce, baked goods and fish stalls. Upstairs and down in the Market Vaults you can browse a large number of shops selling crafts, clothes, gifts and much more.
Scarborough Market Hall is also home to the highly recommended food spot, Deli Delicious.
Whitby Open Market | Tuesdays, Saturdays & Sundays
Whitby’s frequent market is located in the town’s Market Square. Its stalls offers shoppers the usual market produce as well as Whitby-unique items such as handcrafted jewellery and Whitby jet gifts. A Farmers Market also takes place in the square between April and October.
