Scarborough's Top 5 Rated Attractions

Looking for day out inspiration for your holiday with us this summer? We've collected the top five attractions rated by Scarborough's visitors on TripAdvisor and Discover Yorkshire to give you some ideas.
1. North Yorkshire Water Park
This new-ish attraction located in the nearby village of Wykeham is 5* rated by visitors. The 250 hectare park has huge natural lakes for paddle boarding, kayaking and open water swimming among tons of other activities. They also have the challenging Aqua Park, a floating obstacle course made up of trampolines, slides and climbing walls suitable for all ages. A recent land addition to the park is a huge climbing wall and two zip lines.

2. Peasholm Park
Peasholm Park is the 6th top rated park in all of the UK, located next to Scarborough’s North Bay beach, and is a must-see for visitors. Featuring an oriental garden upon a tall hill and a boating lake with a bandstand for Sunday concerts, the park is the perfect place to stop for a couple of hours on your day out in this area of the town. This prestigious Green Flag awarded park also has some beautiful waterfalls and mini bridges to and from the island holding the Japanese-themed gardens. Dragon pedal boats are available to hire throughout the day in the summer and there’s multiple spots to eat at around the lake too.
During the summer between July and August a miniature Naval Warfare show takes place on the lake once a week, featuring a mini sea battle famous worldwide – it’s even been seen on TV.
3. North Bay Railway & Sky Trail
This historic seaside attraction features a small heritage railway that runs along Scarborough’s North Bay and can take you to the Sea Life Centre. The trains run regularly as public transport and the timetable can be found here http://nbr.org.uk/timetable/ and along with attraction prices.
The attraction also features the North Bay Sky Trail Adventure with two storeys of rope bridges and beams to climb along for the thrill seekers. There’s also the historic water chute beside the boating lake which is suitable for all ages and family friendly.
4. Playdale Farm Park
Playdale Farm is just a few minutes’ drive from us and is a must-visit for a family day out for everyone. The farm has animals of all kinds from chipmunks to emus to alpacas and the usual farm-friendly sheep and chicks, some which can be fed by visitors. The park also has a go-kart track and a new zip line attraction, and for rainy days there’s plenty of indoor play areas, sandpits and covered animal enclosures. Finish off the day with a bite to eat at their on site café and gift shop.
Playdale is just a few minutes’ drive from us, stop by reception and we can give you directions. Unfortunately there is no direct bus route but if you don’t have transport we can recommend some local taxi firms.
5. Scarborough Castle
The stunning 3,000 year old Scarborough Castle is a must-see when visiting the town. Imposing on the cliff between the North and South Bays, the castle holds thousands of years of history and is currently an English Heritage site. Visit to explore the grounds and learn about its years through the Civil War, Tudors and Middle Ages. From up on the cliffs you can also get a beautiful panoramic view of the town and its two beaches.
